About FaraidCalc
Empowering Muslims worldwide with verified mathematical tools and authentic Islamic jurisprudence to understand, calculate, and fulfill the sacred obligation of estate distribution.
Our Mission & Sacred Purpose
The laws of Islamic inheritance (‘Ilm al-Farā’id) represent one of the most intellectually rigorous and spiritually vital pillars of Islamic jurisprudence. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized its urgent preservation, stating:
"Learn the laws of inheritance and teach them to people, for it is half of knowledge and it will be forgotten, and it will be the first thing to be taken away from my Ummah." — Sunan Ibn Majah (2719), Sunan al-Daraqutni
In contemporary societies, families frequently encounter immense confusion, family disputes, and costly litigation during estate administration. While the Holy Quran directly sets forth fractional allocations with arithmetic precision (Surah An-Nisa 4:11, 4:12, and 4:176), applying these rules across diverse family trees—accounting for blocking (Hajb), proportional reduction (Al-‘Awl), surplus return (Ar-Radd), and the special cases of Umar (Al-Gharrawiyyan)—can be mathematically daunting.
FaraidCalc was founded to bridge this gap: providing a free, transparent, zero-compromise calculation engine and educational encyclopedia that translates classical Islamic legal scholarship into an accessible, interactive digital format.
Founder & Project Custodians
Dedicated to Digital Excellence for the Global Ummah
H M Jubair Alam founded FaraidCalc under the aegis of the Islamic Digital Initiative to address the acute scarcity of accessible, auditable, and aesthetically sophisticated Islamic legal utilities.
With a background spanning digital software architecture, mathematics, and a profound reverence for classical Arabic jurisprudential codices, Jubair designed FaraidCalc to combine algorithmic rigor with unyielding fidelity to the Quran, Sahih Sunnah, and unanimous historical consensus (Ijmā‘).
Recognizing the sensitivity of familial financial data, Jubair instituted an immutable foundational rule: zero telemetry, zero server storage, and 100% client-side offline execution. Every calculation, asset evaluation, and family tree scenario remains strictly confined to the user’s local browser memory.
Our Scholarly & Technical Pillars
How FaraidCalc preserves integrity across both sacred jurisprudence and digital software
Authentic Sunni Consensus
Our computation engine faithfully reflects the classical consensus of the four major Sunni schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali), cross-verified against foundational treatises such as Al-Sirājiyyah, Bidayat al-Mujtahid, and Al-Mughni.
Absolute Privacy First
We never collect, store, or transmit your financial figures, familial relations, or estate queries. Calculations occur strictly on your local device. We believe estate privacy is a fundamental ethical and religious right.
Open & Transparent
Every fraction, formula, exclusion rule, and mathematical reduction step is visibly exposed. Users and researchers can audit the underlying calculations, inspect scriptural evidence, and generate verifiable certificates.
Important Educational & Legal Notice
FaraidCalc is created solely for educational, academic, and preparatory guidance. While our calculation engine mirrors authentic fiqh algorithms with extreme precision, real-world inheritance disputes may involve contested debts, testamentary bequests, paternity determinations, or local jurisdictional probate mandates. Users are strongly advised to seek formal verification from certified Islamic jurists (Muftis) and licensed civil probate attorneys before final distribution.
